Wild Rounds and Organized Play Updates
We’re in the midst of the Wild Rift tournament season! Our first Wild Rounds: CarnaWild, which was in Brazil, recently wrapped up, and we wanted to take a moment to talk more with you about Wild Rounds, and some of our other Organized Play plans for the rest of the year. When we created this initiative, our goal was to celebrate the community and support the community of dedicated fans of Wild Rift. Whether you’re someone who wants to have tournaments with your friends to see who is the best of the best, watch your favorite influencers duke it out in a high-stakes 1v1, or enter a tournament yourself to prove you’re the best in your region, this initiative was created to celebrate you and innovate ways you watch and play Wild Rift, and we’re excited to expand on that even more this year!

Last year, we hosted our first ever Wild Rounds: SMASH, a cross-regional competition and celebration of the Wild Rift Community. It was the first time we really decided to experiment a bit with the format of our events. We featured a Pro track 5v5, where JT was the winning team, an Influencer track 5v5, where the winning team was SNG from the Philippines, and WCP from Brazil took second place! Additionally, we had a Team Relay, which was a 1v1 and 2v2 that was a mix of pros and influencers, where JT won, with TS from Korea coming in fourth place! Congratulations again to all the teams who made a splash and won. It was so fun seeing influencers and pros compete against one another. We’re really happy with the format and the feedback we’ve received from all of you across the world! It’s important to us that participants and viewers enjoy these events, because we’ve created them with you in mind. And based on the feedback we received, we feel that overall Wild Rounds: SMASH was a smashing success, so this year we’re going to be expanding on it.
ORGANIZED PLAY

Something we want to expand on this year is giving you all the opportunities to host your own tournaments and events outside of Wild Rounds. We feel this is a great way for you, your friends, and the community to get together and see who’s the best of the best, so we want to make sure we can enable anyone and everyone to have the opportunity to host an event. Currently, we’re exploring paths to make this a reality, so that community organizers, creators, or even you and your friends, have the ability to create your own affiliated tournaments. We’ll have more updates and information on how you can get involved and create your own affiliated tournament later this year.
WILD ROUNDS
We’re also expanding on Wild Rounds this year. Last year we had 11 Wild Rounds tournaments and this year we will be hosting 18 Regional Wild Rounds tournaments in Brazil, Korea, the Philippines, Turkey, and Vietnam. The goal for Wild Rounds tournaments is for them to be hosted quarterly, so each region will be hosting a tournament in May/June, August/September, and November/December of this year. Each region’s tournament will also be hosted, formatted differently, and have their own unique prize pools, so that it hyper-serves each community. For now, the majority of our Wild Rounds are hosted by Riot, but we’re exploring the possibility of partnering and working with some other tournament organizers. When we created these events, it was with the Wild Rift community in mind, so it’s important to us that these tournaments grow Wild Rift communities across the world. We know how important local tournament organizers are, and how much they support communities. So we feel it’s an exciting opportunity for us to partner with them to help us make Wild Rounds even better. We’ll update you later this year on those partnerships once we start kicking them off!

These Regional Wild Rounds tournaments lead up to the final tournament of the year, Wild Rounds: SMASH, which will again feature influencers and community members from Brazil, China, Korea, the Philippines, Turkey, and Vietnam. As well as Pro Teams from China. We’re excited to share more with you about Wild Rounds: SMASH, so stay tuned for more details like the location, format, and participants.
